What work experience have you completed?

Overview

Lots of veterinary schools require some work experience, so most students will have completed a certain amount of it. The most important thing isn’t how much or what work experience you did, but what you actually took away from the experience.

What to mention

For this section, you should mention:

• The variety of placements you completed (small animal, large animal, farm work, abattoir, kennels, shelter, exotics, etc.)
• You should include how long you worked on each placement
• Include why you chose each placement
• What you discovered vs what you expected

This is important to show that you are motivated to seek experience, have realistic expectations of the role as you have seen it, and you understand the profession.
